ECONOMY The region surrounding Waynesville is part of the industrial heart of America, a center of automotive, machining and tooling, packaging and steel manufacturing. While the Dayton-Cincinnati region's economy has historically been manufacturing-based, it is quickly becoming a leader in several technological industries as well. INFRASTRUCTURE Waynesville and the surrounding region have developed an extensive and well-established system of infrastructure with an emphasis on full service. In addition to reliable suppliers of water, sewer, gas and electricity, businesses can choose from a variety of providers of voice, data and video products and services. QUALITY OF LIFE The Dayton-Cincinnati Metroplex is a major national center of culture, arts, sports, recreation, conventions and tourism. As a result, Waynesville is not only a great place to locate your business, it's a great place to live. The region offers access to tens of thousands of acres of recreational green space and a full schedule of cultural and sporting events year round. The region's ballet, theater and contemporary dance companies are nationally renowned for their excellence. Recreational highlights of Waynesville include Caesar Creek State Park, the adjacent Caesar Creek Lake and the Little Miami Scenic Trail. WORKFORCE Waynesville's central location between Cincinnati and Dayton allows you to draw on a diverse labor pool from a wide geographic region. The Dayton-Cincinnati Metroplex offers access to a workforce of approximately 1.5 million people. This includes approximately 480,000 in Dayton with a 3.9% unemployment rate, and 1,076,000 in Cincinnati, with a 3.6% unemployment rate. Organizations such as the Warren County One Stop serve workforce development needs and can work with your business to help fill your labor requirements. They offer job-training programs to build upon the existing strengths of the region's workforce. EDUCATION According to a recent article in Time Magazine, the Dayton and Cincinnati Metroplex is in the top 15 metro areas for educational opportunity in the United States. (February 28, 2000 issue) Numerous institutions of higher learning, including law and medical schools, are located within a short distance from Waynesville. In the Dayton area, these include Miami University, Sinclair Community College, Wright State University, and University of Dayton. In the Cincinnati area, these include the University of Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky University, and Xavier University. Locally, the Wayne Local School District includes an elementary, junior high, high, and vocational school, with approximately 1,400 students enrolled. GROWTH Warren County, Ohio was recently recognized by Demographics Daily as one of the top 100 places in the U.S. poised for rapid growth. Warren County was ranked 54th on a list of more than 3,000 counties and cities across the nation, based on each county's measured capacity for future growth and prosperity. Warren County is the second-fastest growing county in Ohio in both residential and economic development, and Waynesville is an integral part of Warren County's formula for success.
