Income Tax On May 5, 2010, Village of Waynesville residents voted to keep a one-percent (1%) income tax for "the purpose of general municipal operations and maintenance and the elimination of deficits in Village funds." The tax is effective for income earned on or after July 1, 2010. The Regional Income Tax Agency (also known as R.I.T.A.) is responsible for administering the tax and will mail out forms and notices as necessary. For more information or questions about the tax, please visit R.I.T.A.'s website (http://www.ritaohio.com) or call 1-800-860-7482. In an effort to use the tax dollars in the most efficient manner, Council has chosen to outsource the administration of the income tax to R.I.T.A. The cost for R.I.T.A.'s services is three-percent (3%) to five-percent (5%) of collections (estimated at $5,340. to $8,900. per year), which is significantly less than hiring an employee ($45,000.+ including benefits).
